Shepherd and Sheep Relationship Shepherd + Sheep = “CCSMC
Vision”
SHEPHERD, Defined by “S-S-S”: Seeker Simple Submissive 1. SEEKER (Matthew 18:12-14) Illust.: “Parable of the Sower” 99 = Let’s address the wrong notion that in order to be qualified as a “Pastor”, you need to have a congregation or a group of believers gathered under your own “leadership”.
1 = According to the Parable, a “shepherd” is willing to leave the “flock” in order for him/her to find the lost and bring the said sheep to the flock or sheepfold. The question is, “What about the 99 if the shepherd leave them unattended?” In the first place, the “99” is not our own, but God’s. Even if we leave the congregation, we know they are in good hands. “We know that God is working for the good of those who love God and are CALLED according to His purpose.” (Rom. 8:28).
“The Command is GO!” We are all Shepherds commissioned to be “Ambassadors as Citizens of Heaven” (Phil. 3:20) to GO “unto all the nations” (Matt. 24:14). We are God’s “Image” or reflection (Representative/Spokesperson) on earth. Wherever we GO Whatever we DO
2. SIMPLE (1 Samuel 16:7) Illust.: “The Rise of King David” The status of being a “shepherd” during his time was considered to be the lowliest position, as compared to the soldiers who were fighting for the kingdom. David was seen by human perspective to be “unqualified” because of his low credential and considered as inexperienced. Yet, David found favor in the eyes of the Sovereign “King of all nations” (Ps. 72:11).
Saul was declared by the people as king of Israel because he stood “head & shoulder” above anyone else. (1 Sam. 10:22-23) “The people rejected God as their King.” David was declared by God to be “a man after his own heart”. Why? Because “he will do everything God wants him to do.” (Acts 13:22). While working at the palace, “he maintained his status as a shepherd”. (1 Sam. 17:15) Today, man’s standard of a “good sheepfold” is “A-B-C”: Attendance, Building, Cash-inflow. "A LITTLE one shall become a THOUSAND, and a SMALL ONE a STRONG NATION." Isaiah 60:22, KJV (Emphasized)
3. SUBMISSIVE (Genesis 2::2-7) Illust: “Abel’s Faith.” Unlike Cain, Abel didn’t rely to his “own work”. Rather he relied in the “blood of the lamb”. Abel’s faith in the “blood of the lamb” qualified him to gain the favour of God. “Submission is a clear expression of worship.” What is it in the “Blood”? Heb. 12: 24 People became a “Slave of vengeance”. They lived by hatred, anger and war. War is the major penalty of sin! When Adam sinned war was declared. But instead of revenge, God provided “the Lamb”. “Look! There is Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29). On the 2nd declaration, “Look! There’s the Lamb of God!”, only 2 followed Jesus (John 1:36). The Christ was made flesh in the person of Jesus to fulfil the Promise of Blessings to Abraham. Jesus then is the answer to Isaac’s question, “Where is the Lamb?”. Abraham said, “God will provide”. “Look! There’s the Lamb of God”. Who is he? He is, at the same time, the CHIEF SHEPHERD. “GOD has already PROVIDED. IT IS FINISHED” So that through the “Blood of the Lamb” as ransom sacrifice for the redemption of those who believe. This is the aid of Almighty God where there shall be a “Regime of truth, justice, freedom, love, equality and peace”.
SHEEP
portrays a“Dependent Attitude” “Abraham’s Bossom” the Source of the Ultimate “S” (SALVATION) A lost “sheep”, when found, is carried by the “shepherd” on the “bosom”, like a child, while bringing the sheep to the “sheepfold/flock”. Look. Jesus declared publicly, “This day is SALVATION come to this HOUSE, forsomuch as he also is a SON of Abraham.” Luke 19:9, KJV
What is SALVATION? It simply means FREEDOM! Freedom from what? Slavery from Sin (1 Corinthians 7:20-23, Romans 6:5-14) Prisoner of Satan (Colosians 2:13-15) Curse of Sin (1 Peter 1:18-20) We now have Eternal Life! What does it mean by ETERNAL? Eternal simply means No Limit No Boundary Unstoppable No End Holy (through the Holy Spirit) Now that we have Eternal life, we have A Peaceful Life No Worry about tomorrow No Fear for Today No Doubt All these are made possible in CHRIST ALONE. “And now that you belong to Christ, you are the TRUE CHILDREN of Abraham. You are his HEIRS, & God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.” Gal. 3:29, NLT (Emphasis Added). The GOOD NEWS (Gospel, KJV) was First Preached to Abraham. “What’s more, the Scriptures looked forward to this time when God would declare the Gentiles to be righteous because of their faith. God proclaimed this good news to Abraham long ago when he said, ‘ALL NATIONS will be blessed through you.’ Gal. 3:8, NLT (Emphasis Added). The very first PROMISE was, “…All the FAMILIES of the Earth will be Blessed through You” (Gen. 12:3). This promise belongs to us who belong to Christ and became the TRUE CHILDREN of Abraham. The Phil. Constitution mandates that the State “shall PROTECT and STRENGTHEN the FAMILY as a basic autonomous social institution.” Section 12, Art.2 of the 1987 Constitution.
The Philippine Constitution also provides that “the State to recognizes the Filipino FAMILY as the FOUNDATION of the NATION. Accordingly, it shall strengthen its solidarity & actively promote its total development. MARRIAGE, as an inviolable social institution, is the FOUNDATION of the FAMILY & shall be protected by the STATE.” Sections 1&2, Art. XV of the 1987 Constitution.
Our Constitution have adopted the Doctrine of “Parens Patriae”. Parens patriae is Latin for "parent of the nation." In law, it refers to the public policy power of the state to intervene against an abusive or negligent parent, legal guardian or informal caretaker, and to act as the parent of any child or individual who is in need of protection. For example, some children, incapacitated individuals, and disabled individuals lack parents who are able and willing to render adequate care, thus requiring state intervention. (Wikipedia) The above provisions of the Philippine law and the Principle of “Parens Patriae” is being raised by the Apostle Paul when he wrote in the book of Romans, “Let every soul be subject
to the GOVERNING AUTHORITIES. For there is NO AUTHORITY EXCEPT FROM GOD, and the authorities that exist are APPOINTED BY GOD.” Rom. 13:1, KJV (Emphasis Added). It is the Will of God to Preserve and Protect families in order to build a Strong Nation through the State. NATION: Racial, Tribe | STATE: Legal, Political Going back to the Promise of God to Abraham. In Gen. 17:4, "This is my covenant with you: I will
make you the father of a MULTITUDE of NATIONS! (KJV, Emphasis Edded)
Israel is only one NATION right? Yes, because it is composed only of 1 Tribe which is the Tribe of Jacob. How about the Philippines? we are composed of MANY TRIBES/LANGUAGES. “A nation is a large group of people who share a common language, culture, ethnicity, descent (family background), or history.” (Wikipedia) CONCLUSION: The Filipino Nation is truly CHOSEN by God, although belittled by other Nations, yet God have already preparing us in accordance to Genesis 1:28 & Matthew 24:14.
